Conyers To Hold Forum On Civil Liberties
After September 11

 Congressman John Conyers, Jr., ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, will hold a forum on Thursday, January 24th to address and analyze the civil liberties implications of recent policies and programs implemented as a part of America's continuing war on terrorism.

 Conyers and members of Congress will be briefed on surveillance and intelligence gathering, attorney-client monitoring, immigration policy, and the international impact of national security policy.  Scheduled witnesses will include:  Reverend Al Sharpton, National Action Network; Nadine Strossen, President ACLU; Morton Halperin, National Council on Foreign Relations; James Zogby, Arab American Institute; James Dempsey, Center for Democracy &Technology; Kate Martin, Center for Strategic Studies; David
Cole, Georgetown Law Center, Kelly Evans and Christy Lopez, counsel to airline profiling victims; and Denyse Sabagh, Esq., ADC.
