WRITING EXERCISE 10/13/02

The world.
The world on a platter.
Tobago, Asia, the ocean, runes, an intricate palace festooned with color, goddess necklace, amethyst glistening purple in the sun.
All woven together with burnt sienna yarn. Strong yarn ready to weave our differences, letting them stay true to their truth, no longer isolated in anger. Holding together the strands of language, culture, religion, history...our unique ways of seeing and being in the world.

Feminine objects presented from a woman's point of view.

What would happen if instead of making speeches and bribing one another behind closed doors, government leaders would sit outside together in silence, listening to the wind blow through the trees, letting the birds speak in their native tongues, with such a platter of objects before them? What would happen if they heard the thud of black walnuts dropping to the earth? What would happen if they wrote in silence until they could find no more words? Would there be such a thing as war?

I believe in the power to change.
I believe each of us knows our connection with all life on this planet.
I believe when three women sit still and write together it impacts the whole.
I believe peace is possible.
I believe therefore I am.

May all human persons let the glimmerings of such belief take up residence and grow to fullness within their hearts.
Let their minds and will be attracted to the peace in their hearts and come fly free.
May peace become the only answer that comes to mind.
And may it happen now, this minute, this day.
